A live planet for earthquakes
Earthquake World is a simple, worldwide live map: a 3D Earth on the right (or full screen) and a real-time list of recent earthquakes on the left.
When you open the site you land on the globe immediately. Each event shows magnitude, time and location. Markers are colored by strength so you can read risk at a glance: green for lighter events, yellow for widely felt quakes, red for major shocks that can cause serious damage.
A new earthquake appears as a translucent circle on the planet. The camera eases in for five seconds — a short Google Earth-style flyover — then returns to the full globe. Green and yellow events play a brief beep. Red events play a short alarm, about two to three seconds, so you notice without being overwhelmed.
Where the data comes from
We merge live catalogs from USGS (all magnitudes, hour/day/week + FDSN), INGV, EMSC, GFZ GEOFON and IRIS so national networks worldwide are represented. Events from several agencies are combined into one card, with reviewer status and later revisions. A few seconds of cache keep the site fast without dropping new detections.
What this site is not
This is not an official warning system and it does not replace national civil protection alerts. Magnitudes can be revised as more stations report. If you feel shaking, follow local emergency guidance — not a website.
Keeping the globe free
Earthquake World is built to stay free to use. Pages include clear text, privacy and terms so the site can host responsible advertising (Google AdSense) without covering the live map. Ads never replace USGS data or hide the globe.
